   the delta 10inch with Biesmeyer fence is a good machine; and the fence is too.

   Part of the seemingly "extra" cost is in the Beisemeyer fence.  It's a fence that many people add later on down the road at a not-insignificant price, and which makes the woodworking process much more enjoyable (so I'm told -- wish I had one!).

   It doesn't sound like the price tag is a roadblock for you, but if you want to shop around for similar models, you could look at the General 50-175 (right tilt) or 50-185 (left tilt), which has a Bies. clone fence, runs around $650, or the Grizzly 1022PROZ, which also has a Beis. clone -- the Shop Fox Classic, runs $675 including shipping.

   Where are you located?  There are occassionally good deals on used versions of the setup you are looking for - it is usually people like me who are ready to upgrade to a cabinet saw.

   I bought the delta 10" contractor's saw at Lowe's for about $500.00.  I put an Incra TS2 fence on it (never used the factory one) and have had no problems with the saw, other than one I have caused.  (I put a 4' x 8' free standing outfeed table behind it and didn't compensate for the motor.  The first time I laid the saw over to cut a 45, it picked the table up.  I still don't have the saw aligned like it came, but it's getting closer.)  I plan on upgrading one day, but it's not at the top of my list.
