Dear All,
I’m thinking of buying a band saw within the range of 10″ to 14″.
By chance, I saw a Delta 14″ Band Saw model no : 28-276 in one of on-line catalogues. I read the features in the Owner’s Manual. It really catches my eyes. The catalogue indicates the motor as 120V/240V. (No mentioned wether it’s prewired 120V or so)
My question is, can I just plug in the machine to the 220V to 240V power supply without using a step-down transformer ?
If anybody has the info please advise me.
Thanking you in advance.

It comes prewired for 120v, you won't need a transformer to run it on the higher voltages but you will have to change the plug and change the wiring in the motor junction box. It's not hard and Deltas instructions are generally good. If you have the room you will be a lot happier with the 14" than the 10"

Thanks dgreen,
Actually I did sent this enquiry to one of those on-line shops 2 days ago, but have not got any reply yet. Looks like faster to get info from your good self.
Thanks for being so helpful. Have a good sleep !

Delta says you also have to change the switch when you rewire the motor for 240 V. My guess is the switch only removes power from one leg of the 240 - you need a double pole switch to completely cut the power to the motor.
Thank you Bob for being so helpful.
I have yet to decide. What really worries me now is assembling the parts. l'm not sure whether I would be able to do that. I am going through the manual right now. Do think it is not so complicated ?
