I just acquired an old Delta 12″ bench planer. On trying it out, it seems the feed rollers are either not aligned with the cutter head or slipping on the material. I have to push the wood through and pull it out. With a thin piece of stock, I was able to get it to feed by just kissing the board to the cutter. But I only got to this point intermittently. Any advice on what I’m doing wrong would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks.

check the rollers
I would start by making sure the rollers are clean. On my Delta planer the rubber rollers pick up dust and then the material won't go through. A simple clean up with some soap and water took care of it. Also put some wax on the table to reduce friction.

Check the knives for sharpness, dull knives make the feed rollers work much harder.
Feed problems
Start with the basics. Sharp knives properly set in the cutterhead first- the magnetic setting jigs work well for this size planer. Feed rolls and chipbreaker should be about .030" below cutting circle. The pressure bar, the usual culprit in many feed and finish problems should be set dead level with the cutting circle, close doesn't count here so take your time and do it right. The bed rollers should be properly set as well (if non adjustable) maybe .004" above the bed, too low and you may have feed issues, too high and you will have finish issues, a clean and waxed bed is most important as others have pointed out.
