I am considering the purchase of a Delta 14-651 bench top mortiser. I would appreciate any comments from past or present users of this or any other bench top mortisers.

I'm not sureif this is the cheap one or the newer more expensive one. I got the cheap older model. Works very well for me. Built maple crib with 110 mortises, walked through them without problems. One thing I came up against- Travel. Needed more space between workpiece and chisel. I pulled the limit pin and gained what I needed.
I added the table from Rockler with wheels that make running the piece along with the fence easier. Rockler also has a diamond hone for the chisels that works nice.
Just remember, let the tool tell you how fast to work. Pulling harder will not make you go much faster. Need times to let the chips eject.
I have a Jet JBM-5. I'm not a big JET fan,, but works well when I use it.. All I can say it works when I need it but far from production environment here...
I usually use my routers and loose tenons.. Just me..
I have one and am very happy with it. The fence is taller than most.. nice rack and pinion adjustment.. good depth stop.. comes with hollow chisels (which many machines do not include).
Shop around.. you can get a decent discount. Here's one place to look:
