Delta 14″ variable speed lathe 46-715
I have a Delta 46-715 14″ variable speed lathe. Last April the motor pulley shattered making the machine unusable. I called the Delta parts outlet to order a replacement part and was told they are on backorder until July. In July the part was on back order until Oct. In Oct the part is on back order until January, 2008. I am curious how many other Delta lathe owners are having this problem. I also would like to hear if anyone has a suggestion to resolve this. I contacted Delta and the basically said ‘sorry’.

perhaps a local machine shop has a replacement or could make you one...

Thank you for the input.
Good idea, but I think a last resort. The shattered pulley was the variable speed pulley so not a simple item to reproduce.
I am curious as to why this paticular part is on back order for at least 9 months when Delta is still able to produce the lathe.
Why 9 months? Slow boat from China.
Do you have the parts blow up page ? What is the Delta part # that you need ? I can call our Delta Rep. and see what's up with ordering that part. Give me all the info you can.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

The old part #901735.
I am told the new part #909945.
It is the variable pulley on the motor
I have checked with the Greenville, SC Service Center and they have checked in the area for the part.
Appreciate any help
Thanks
Pulley for the delta 46-715
Renovo parts now have this pulley in stock. I ordered one last year and they finally have a supply. I also installed a pulley from Grizzly and it works fine except you can't use the 2 fastest speedsettings. The Grizzly pulley is about 1/2 inch smaller in diameter that the original and it looks like the belt will jump off the pulley at the 2 fastest settings
Renovo Part
The Renovo part arrived today and it is identical to the Grizzly part as far as I can see. The diameter of the pulley is the same. I thought that the Renovo part would be the same size as the original Delta part, which was 1/2 inch larger, but I was wrong. The only difference is the price. Renovo is $97.22 with shipping and the Grizzly is $45.95 with shipping. Running the lathe up to full speed does not cause the belt to jump off but this was not running under a load as it would be if you were turning something. Something to keep in mind for future reference.
