Thanks to all who responded to my original request for opinions on the Delta 36-650C and the Ridgid 3650. The Delta 36-650C TS retails in Canada for $599 to $699 and the Ridgid for $799. It would appear from the responses I recieved that there have been arbour and service problems with the Ridgid however the Delta 36-650C enjoys a very good reputation among its users. Have any Delta 36-650C owners had problems with the fence? The fence on the Delta floor model at HD was broken (front left section of the fence where it clamps on the the front rail). The HD sales person said it’s a common problem with the Delta 36-650C fence. He said the fence does not clamp down very securly band people often yard down on it too hard and end up breaking it. He also said the Ridgid fence was a far better fence and that is one of the reasons the Ridgid sells better than the Delta.

I think a number of folks on Canadianwoodworking.com own the 36-650C. Most of what I read has been positive...you might try posting there to see if you find more owners.
Will do. Thanks for the tip.
Not knockin' Delta but the Ridgid is a 'nice' saw... I like mine ALOT!
Thanks for the input. I spoke to a Ridgid rep this morning who told me the arbor problem related to a production run where the end of the arbor wasn't ground to the same diameter as the inner part of the arbor shaft. The faulty arbors were/will be replaced free of charge. Subsequent production runs no longer produce the problem arbors. That changes things somewhat. How long have you had your saw?
Sorry for the late reply...
I think I have one of the BAD saws..
I hardly ever use my dado anymore so not a issue to me..
The saw is a GOOD saw for the price.. Get it.. Call and ask SN of when it was fixed!
Or get a General or a Grizz .. Nice saws also
Ooops, I see you already know about the specifics of the arbor thing. Sorry!

I'd be a bit hesitant to blame the fence for what happens to it at HD. At my local HD, none of the shop machines are assembled properly, frequently missing parts. Breaking under those conditions is not what you want, but may have little relevance to a properly assembled fence in a reasonable shop environment. The Ridgid saw is liked by many: it's fence on the demo, never properly installed, is now broken on the display unit in that store.
Interesting! No one else indicated any problems with the 36-650 fence. Your observation is appreciated.
My local Home Depot..
There is this Old Hispanic lady in the tool department... I bug her all the time.. I ask all sorts of questions she can't answer.. She smiles and .. I'm happy!
I have the Delta 36-650 and have found that the fence gets out of alignment more frequently than it should. It's relatively easy to realign, just aggravating!
Thanks Jeff. I did end up getting the Delta 36-650. It was $200 less than the Ridgid 3650 and HD offered the same 112 month interst free plan for it. It set up really easily and after a couple of minor adjustments is running A-1. In a few months I'll know more. Thanks to everyone who helped out with comments and observations about all three saws in question. I really appreciated everyone's thoughts and observations.
Congrats and enjoy the saw Shinny. Thanks for the update....it's always nice to know the outcome of the discussions!
