Delta Bandsaw Identification/Verification
Hi Forum Members,
I’m new to the form ana armature woodworker looking to buy a bandsaw. I found an older delta that fits my needs but I am unable to find another picture of this saw online other than the one in the advertisement for the saw. The sticker says Delta but every other picture that I see online with the motor behind the saw and a black belt guard says Rockwell (ie. 28-243 model from around ’81). This is about when they changed from Rockwell to Delta.
Thanks for any help you can give verifying this is indeed a real Delta saw.

Is there a vacuum in that cabinet? That would explain the duel toggle switches that are not original to the saw. 14" Delta is a classic saw. Seems like when Pentair took over Rockwell there were different versions of the same saw. Some may have still been manufactured in Pittsburgh while everything was shifting to Taiwan. So varying logos and covers etc. Not all were Deltas gray. While there were many clones of that saw my guess is that is probably for real. Looks in good shape. Buy the way, I think in older used machines Delta or Rockwell is the way to go. There were so many of them that parts can be found. Might have to look hard but they are there. Nothing seems to be supported very long these days so on used equipment that is a big deal!
Thank you so much for your reply. It is good to get a second opinion before buying. Yes.... the cabinet was turned into a dust collector. I definitely agree with newer is not necessarily better. I think I will buy it.
Thanks again.
It looks like the 28-243 Rockwell model for sure.
The motor may have been changed, though, or perhaps a different version, like Pantalones mentioned. A quick look around makes it obvious there were a number of slightly different versions.
The body contours match among them all, though and yours matches.
This could be interesting if you've got the serial to figure out some more info.

The serial number would have a very great help. I think it is the 28-243 too. But then again, there are couple of saws similar to what you have. Have you reached to them already?
