Delta Contractor tablesaw vibration/rumble
My Delta contractor saw has a rumble/vibration that is not out of control but hard to miss. In poking around, I found I could jiggle the entire trunion system a bit by reaching down through the table top. As best I can tell, it looks like the jiggle is coming from slop in the front trunnion slots. I bought the saw new 25 years ago and it has really only gotten reasonable home use, nothing commercial.
Just to note, in the past year I took apart the entire trunion assembly and cleaned the slots and the gears. The tilt system was binding. More recently, I aligned the trunions, in which I shimmed the front trunion to achieve alignment when the blade is tilted. I installed a PALS system. I am sure I properly tightened the four trunion bolts in the procedure.
The blade is now pretty well aligned with .002 with the blade 90 degrees and .005 when tilted. I also intalled a link belt, so that isn’t the issue. It is cutting cleanly, so I may chose to live with the problem, but I’d like to know what I’m dealing with. I’m pretty sure the problem existed before I aligned the blade and probably before I cleaned the impacted dust from the trunion system. I’m not inclined to buy new trunions. Any suggestions are welcome.
