Delta Sharpening Wet Grinder Tuneup??
I’ve got a Delta 21-710 Sharpening Center Wet/Dry grinder -an older version that lacks the better adjustable rest. The horizonal wet wheel is badly gouged and “lumpy”. Has anyone figured out a good way to flatten this wheel?
I’ve thought about taking the wheel off and trying to true it on coarse grade sandpaper but this may not result in a level plane. The Delta website has no useful info. Perhaps I should just put it into the annual yard sale?
Thanks

Can the wheel be removed and flipped over? Is a new wheel out of the question?

I could stand a new coarse stone for mine as well. For the wet stone, I wet it and put a diamond stone up to it one time. Seemed ok, but makes one heck of a mess.
I just picked up one of those for $35 at my clubs used tool sale with the same problem. I was planning on using a truing stick on it, the kind you use to true a grinding wheel.
Because of the way it works, I don't think it has to be perfectly flat just close. I MIGHT then take it off and flip it over and do as Planewood says. However, I wouldn't start that way because while it will end up flat, it will not be perpendicular to the point of rotation, VERY bad!
