Hi all,
My husband has a Limited Edition 10” Delta Contractor’s Table Saw (Model 36-426) with a Delta 62-044 motor. A while ago, a very tiny piece from the motor came off and was lost. He tried to find a replacement part online, but it’s apparently no longer made. I was hoping to get his table saw working again for Christmas, but I don’t see this motor available online new or used. Can anyone point me in a direction for replacing this exact motor or finding an alternative model that will work in its place?
Thank you all so much!

If you have a shop locally that works on small motors, you could take it to them to see if there is a fix for it. If not fixable, they can recommend a replacement. If you want to do it yourself, find the motor tag and get mainly the following information: Horsepower (hp)(getting one with a bit more is OK), amps, rotation direction, frame type, shaft size (diameter). You probably want one with "TEFC" on the label. That means it is totally enclosed to keep the dust out.
Grizzly sells a direct replacement motor that fits most Delta Contractor saws. I recently had to find some replacement parts for my Delta contractor saw motor and had the same issues you are having. As bilyo mentions above, make sure the stuff on the tag matches.
I agree with the above advice regarding how to source a new motor. That said, you mention a "very tiny piece from the motor came off"and was lost. On a contractor saw, there's really nothing on/within the motor itself that could ever get loose and fall off. So that makes me wonder if what you're referencing is not actually the motor but rather the short length of square or rectangular steel (or sometimes a half moon shape), called a key, that locks the motor shaft to the pulley located at the end of the shaft, or possibly the set screw that bears against it. Both are indeed small parts that can work loose and fall out, if/when the set screw is not tight. Absent the key, the pulley at the end of the motor shaft will be loose and not turn properly to drive the saw, even when the motor is on. I don't know the specific size of the key on the motor/pulley combo on the Delta contractor saw, but it will be something very standard and readily available and not at all proprietary to Delta. It's going to be imperial (as opposed to metric) in something like 3/16 inch or thereabouts. Similarly, the set screw will be a standard item, where you just need to match the diameter and thread. You can easily find replacements on Amazon, or elsewhere online or a decent hardware store, for a few bucks, or, for a little more, get variety packs that will almost certainly contain something that fits.
Thank you all so so much! All of this is such great information. I've decided, however, that I'm in over my head. The saw could be missing a piece that doesn't require a whole new motor. So, I'm going to come clean with my husband, share this information with him. Sounds like the safest bet. You folks are great, and I so appreciate you sharing your expertise and time!
