I have just acquired a #34-182 Delta tenoning jig, all the new models that I’ve seen are the #34-183 . I would like to know what are the differences in the two models and also wondering why the verticle work support plate won’t zero to the sawblade on my left tilt Unisaw? Any help will be appreciated. buck

There is an article in Fine Woodworking n. 175 (Feb. 2005) which describes a number of tenon jigs including the Delta 34-183 and 34-184. There is no mention of the 182 and I think it may be discontinued. The local dealer also says the 183 has been removed from their catalogue. Either discontinued by Delta or by the retail chain (House of Tools). I bought the 184 which FW recomends and it is a bit short of reaching the blade on my older Unisaw. I just attached a piece of MDF to its fence and attached a strip of wood to extend the secondary fence past the MDF so that I can have a reference to keep things square. Then i moved the fence right up to the blade and ran it through to just kiss the new fence to clean it all up. It works fine but as to why Delta built it this way is a mystery. I guess the Unisaw mitre -guage slot must be further from the blade than most saws or maybe Delta just screwed up, but I think the other brands are the same.

Whatever the differences, let us know what you think of the 182. If it's still available, works well and is 2 models old, it may be a bargain for those of us considering buying a tenoning jig.
