All,
Just installed my new (1997) Unisaw this week and have gotten to the point where I am ready to set up the unifence. The problem is that the locking mechanism will not secure the fence to the rail. I have noticed that I can pull or push the handle forward or backward. I realize that the cam on the handle does not register against the rail, which is the key to the fence becoming locked, but I am at a loss as how to achieve this.
(I have searched the internet to no avail. If you do know of a site that will inform me as to how to correct this problem please let me know.)
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

AN ANSWER
There are 2 set screws used to align the fence to the blade. The setting on these screws determines the distance of the fence from the rail which in itself is a determining factor as to the locking ability of the handle/cam combination. Tightening the set screws moves the fence further away from the rail thus allowing the cam to apply pressure to the rail thus locking the fence in place.
So, the problem was solved by algning the blade first, making sure that the set screws were neither too loose nor too tight.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

The handle on the fence twists very slightly counter clockwise. Hold it so that it is straight out. You will feel it, keep it in that position while placing it on the rail, then turn the handle to the right, clockwise. This requires a bit of care and you may also need to make adjustments so that it locks in correctly. When you remove the fence and put it back on, always be sure that it is properly engaged, it can fool you and start moving during a rip.
Thanks for the reply. I am aware that the handle turns in order for the fence to lock into place, but that is not my problem. When I do turn it to the lock postion and push down on the handle the fence remains loose. As I stated above, the handle cam does not register against the rail thus allowing the fence to remain loose.
I know that there is a set screw on the bottom of the locking mechanism guide, where the handle goes thru the fense. I suspect that has something to do w/ my problem but I am not quite sure.
Thanks again for your reply,

Delta's web site and it's great parts listing
has a really great parts listing for all my things and I expect your is also listed. They also sell the parts they list.
I've gotten several items for my unisaw, but I have the Biesmeyer and I change the friction pads yearly.
