   I bought a Unisaw back in 1984 and it’s been a good saw for me. I am more of a weekend warrior with an occasional paying job here and there. I am sure there are better saws I know I have used worse. The thing that I do not get is the fact they removed the sawdust door in the front. How do you get the sawdust out? If I was to do it again I would buy a used Unisaw and avoid the initial high outlay for a new machine. If you are in the market for a saw look it over, does it have enough horsepower, is it made of cast iron, does it seem to be carefully put together, is it quiet (just some of the things to look at). Just because a machine is made in China or any other foreign country does not mean its junk.

    

   I am sure that many people will say that old machinery that was “made in America” is the best.  I think that’s a load of c--p, you get what you pay for and you have to educate yourself and know what you are looking for.

   Thanks for the response. And, you are correct about the place of manufacture. It all has to do with who owns the best manufacturing process and how good the "On-Site" QC people are. It has little or nothing to do with the country.
