Hello All,
Based on recommendations in a FWW article and comments from many of you, I decided to buy DesignCad 3D. I just ordered Version 15 in a full retail package from Overstock.com for only $18.95 and $1.40 shipping. Sounds like a great price so I tought I’d pass it alng in case anyone else is interested.

A bunch of us did this a couple years ago with DC 14. Yep, it's a great deal. Now, if I could just get myself to sit down and learn how to use it. Has slipped wayyyyyy to the bottom of the pile. Have fun!

Thanks, Forestgirl! Any tips for getting up to speed? I'm pretty computer literate but new to CAD. I saw some tutorials at the Designcad forum at the IMSI website, but would be very interested in woodworking specific tips.

I have yet to get going on it. When I put my mind to it, I will do this: take my print-outs of the tutorials that are provided, stick 'em in a notebook, and go through them one chapter at a time. What little time I've spent with CAD has convinced me that if you've never used CAD before, there is simply no intuitive way to go about it. No way to skip around and do only the stuff you're interested in either, near as I can tell. Kinda like algebra -- each step builds on the one before.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
