I’m replacing a cracked fan housing on my Dewalt 735; videos online show that the fan removes simply by sliding it off the motor armature once the bolt and washer are removed.
In my case with the bolt and washer removed the fan remains firmly on the shaft. There is no visible rust or debris etc. I put a little penetrating oil on the threads with no change.
If it matters my fan is white plastic (N578650). Videos online show a black plastic fan but the design of the fans looks comparable between the planer versions.
Has anyone experienced this or am I missing an obvious step? I don’t want to force it and risk breaking something. Thanks!

I replaced my fan housing a few years back and it was a pita. as i remember the fan housing had 3 bolts or clips that were nearly imposable to get at. my fan housing was worn through from all of the wood chips hitting the curve on the way out.
Is the fan necessary if you use a dust collector? I was under the impression that it was there for folks who didn't have a dust collector, or maybe used a shop vac. I may be wrong. But it seems to be an obstruction to a good DC.
Update if anyone is ever in same spot…. Dewalt support wasn’t very helpful. I found a small gear puller, filed the prongs to fit and was able to remove it that way. The center metal hub separated from the plastic fan but that gave me enough space to tap it from the motor shaft. There was no debris or corrosion. I think it was simply badly milled and too tight on the shaft.
