DeWalt 735 Thickness Planer – In-Feed rollers don’t Work
My DeWalt thickness planer stopped working yesterday. The motor works fine with the knives/blades whirling as they should. But the in-feed/out feed rollers (which are clean) have stopped working. All nearby machine repair shops say it is beyond their expertise. The nearest DeWalt Service Center is hundreds of miles away.
Any suggestions on how to approach this problem would be most appreciated.

Both feed rollers are driven by a chain, the cutter head is driven by a belt. Go online, there are lots of YouTube videos on how to change the chains, sprockets, and belt. They'll show you how to remove the side cover so you can see what's up with the chain (maybe a link simply broke). Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34RsBtDJt1I
Thank you for your quick response. I did go on line to view how to change the belt. However, before I did anything I installed new knives and turned the planer on, and for reasons known only to ‘machine gods’ it started working again!
Thanks again,

Thanks for responding. Turns out it wasn’t the chain or the belt. I had change speeds without the motor running, which I thought was logical. Wrong!

Mine is a 733, so I don't know how they compare. I had the same thing happen, and it was a belt. Half the width had broken, the other half was intact. It worked for random intervals. Super easy fix.

Although I haven't made that exact mistake, I've had my share of dumb ones. Thanks for sharing!
