Dewalt 735 / Woodworking Shows
Has anyone seen any deals on Dewalt 735 planer at the Woodworking Shows? I didn’t see them listed as an exhibitor.

I have seen the big Dewalt trailer and the planer at the woodshow in Cloverdale, BC. I didn't attend the one this year at a new venue. I don't think that you'd get too great of a deal on one at a show anyhow. The best deals on machinery seem to be on demo stationary machines.

I got this machine a few years ago and wound up getting it for dirt cheap. I use American Express which will allow you to trade points for gift cards at certain big box stores. Well I could get gift cards at Home Depot, but I saw the machine and Lowe's and it had a $50.00 mail in rebate. Well, when I called HD to ask if they would match the deal they told me they had one better, they were giving 150 off tools that were 299 and up which brought the price down drastically. Then they gave me an additional $50.00 off for something as and by the time I applied my gift cards I wound up paying about $17.00 for the machine. Not saying you have the free gift cards, but look to the big box stores and wait on them to have the deals on it and then snatch them up. It was around March when I got mine, hope this helps.

It's amazing how much the DW 735 has jumped in price this year. Even a reconditioned one is up to $649.
It usually is regular price at the show, but they throw in a bunch of extras. The stand, the extension tables or the garbage can cover. All these are $50 or more... So it's a savings.
I was wandering thru Lowes the other day - and I always stop to look at the power tools. I saw the DW735 for $499.00 - the price sticker didn't show the price as "reduced or special". I went home and checked on line and other listings for the same planer. Lowes on line site showed it at $649.00. I called back to the store and bought the unit over the phone at the price I saw it at. Went I returned to the store to pick it up 2 days later - the price on the DW735's were now showing $649.00. I have bought other power tools there at substantial savings just by being there at the right time.
Seattle wood shows have had them on sale. I bought mine there through Western Tool Supply. Right now they are $599, see http://www.westerntool.com/searchm.htm?type=merged&searcht=dw735
