Good morning every one,
I am looking for some opinions from those of you who own a Dewalt DW735 planer
I run a small cabinet shop and am looking to purchase one. I am wondering about it’s Accuracy and if there is another machine that would compare to it.
Thanks, Jpat

I'm going to get crucified for saying this, but We have on at our shop. It works great, and has plenty of power. I loved the planer and wanted one for my self. But I couldn't afford it. I ended up buying the older model Ryobi which is identical to the Rigid planer. I will admidt that it doesn't have the power or the multi speed capability of the dewalt, but it gives a better finish 99.9% of the time. I don't own a jointer, so I use it to joint the edges of stock, and I use it to surface plan everything I work with. I'm happy with it, and the price was right for my budget.
Hi,
I just got one....well about 2 months ago and am very pleased with it's performance. I'm basically a finish carpenter who tries to do more woodworker type projects, ie. as little plywood as possible.
It has done evrything I have asked of it. I don't have a table saw and rely on my Festool TS75 to cut close and make final dimensions with the 735.
I read a few complaints about plastic gears breaking and knives dinging easy so I've been gentle. I never take more than 1/16" if I can help it and check boards carefully. Never the less I got one small ding after planing about 100 bdft of white ash. probablyu a small piece of sand or what ever.
I never expect a planer to give me a finished surface so no big deal.
BTW I got mine for $450! here's how: Lowes and HD give price match plus 10% off so I found one for $499 and brought that to their attention. Got a free DW 5" ROS to boot! (Which anyone is welcome to for $45 post paid USA I have enough sanders)
Last bit of advice. Buy locally. The first one I bought had feeder rollers which wouldn't work and I took it back. Would have a been a real bummer if a mail order deal. BTW on refelction it appears the speed selector switch was in between settings. DW tech never asked about that and I didn't notice till I was in line at return desk and on my way out with the new one. Not sure if that was it or not.
