Hi to all,
I am the owner of a DW735 thickness planer and so far have been pretty happy with the results of the machine. My only problem that I seem to be suffering is bogging down if the bed does not “slip” properly.
After looking at the different thread on review of the planer, many have encountered this issue and suggest to wax the bed of the planner, but don’t mention how and with what product they had success with
So I’m basically looking at some people that may have experienced this issue and what they did to fix the problem using what product/technique to make it go well….
THanks in advance

I also have a 735 and have not waxed the beds. After planning a lot of pine it started to slip when I went to some cherry. Take a look at the infeed and outfeed rollers and see if they are clean. Mine had a lot of pine chips on them and would slip. Called Dewalt and they told me to clean the rollers with mineral spirits. Once they were clean no problems.
va,
As GW said, I used mineral spirits to clean the rollers and the beds then applied a coat of Butchers Wax and buffed them out. I do this whenever I notice a film on the bed(s) and/or feed issues start happening.

Just unplug the machine. Raise the bed to maximum height. Plain old Johnson's wax will work fine. Rub it on - sparingly. Let it dry, Then buff.
The stuff works great on planes soles and whatever.

The fastest way to do it is to use a block of paraffin wax and just scribble it on the table once in awhile, this is much faster and leaves your hands clean. Don't use the sprays for machine surfaces directly on the table, some of the over spray will get on the rollers. Typically slipping is a result of three things, usually in combination, friction from the table, dirty rollers, and very often dull knives.

Well, thanks for all the answers. The roller did pretty much the trick. I'll keep the waxing of the bed technique if ever needed.
