Still trying to decide if I should replace my old Delta with the Dewalt planer now down to $299 or wait for the new Dewalt to be released. Has anyone heard anymore about the new Dewalts (price/availability date, etc.)? Thanks in advance.

Haven't heard anything about the new DeWalt, but I would suppose it will be a good machine. On the other hand, I know the current model is a great machine and at $300 it's pretty hard to beat. I'd say go with the "old" - proven reliability and a fantastic price.

Ditto on the old reliable current machine. Great price now too.
Check my thread in the General section I did a review of the New Dewallys there.. its titled New dewalt planers coming soon..

We've got three threads going now on the new planer! It does look pretty cool. Take a look at the new Wood Mag and you'll find a review with specs on page 34. Here are the links to Knots threads:

OoooooOK. Got me wondering, though, what possessed you to start that original thread. I'd think you'd have gotten hand paralysis upon starting to type "D-e-W-a-l-t" LOL!
I've certainly noticed there are some naysayers about DeWalt out there -- "King of the Refurb'd Tool" and such. I only have their ROS at the moment, so little experience here.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

"I tell em sorry were a Milwaukee shop..." -- Hah! And I thought you didn't have a mean bone in your body! Why can't I get marketing calls from tool people, instead of (a) long distance services (b) credit card processing companies and (c) web-site hosting dudes??
Keep those Early Alert posts comin', TD, they give us the inside track!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

Stick with your Delta for now. The old dewalt has blades that have to be sent out to sharpen. Your Delta you just turn around. (they can be sharpened at least once, if you find the right guy) Single edge dewalt blades approx $40 a pair.
