Hi, I’m new to all this. So I apologize if it’s a simple question. I tried to replace the table saw blade of my dewalt Dw7480 saw. The stock blade came out fine. When installing the Freud, I can tighten the arbor nut by hand no issues but the moment I use the wrench it “unlocks” and becomes loose. I tried going back to the original blade but no avail. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Update: it will tighten fine as long as there is no blade... with the blade it spins. I’ve tried cleaning the nut / area with a wire brush in case. But still won’t tighten.
It very much sounds like some threads are stripped somewhere. Do the arbor and nut threads look unusual at all?
This makes me feel a tad silly. The arbor nut was wrong side in first.. I turned it around as a last resort (experimentation) and viola it tightened just fine. So yea. Here we have it. Thank you nonetheless.
No, no . . . this is terrific news. So much better than something being damaged. Congrats on joining the near infinite brotherhood of woodworkers who have made a mistake ;-)
Haaaa...one of the stories I debate EVER telling.
So, the saw was making a weird noise when it starts up. On a recheck, the blade seemed off. Figured I'd try to retighten the blade.
Unable to tighten with the torque wrench after hand tightening. Same as earlier. Now with both sides of the arbor nut. I tried adding a video here. After hand tightening. The nut just slips off. https://streamable.com/gqmvsz
Good one. Thanks for sharing a nice piece of info. PrepaidCardStatus
From the looks of the video, the threads are damaged. If you are really lucky, it's only the threads on the nut and a new nut will fix the problem. But the odds are it's both the arbor and the nut.
Sorry for the bad news.
Mike
I had the same thing happen on my delta table saw. Got a new nut everything fine. Take a close look on the blade spindle and see if the threads are OK. If not new spindle.
Thank you. I’m suspicious of the nut at this time. The threads on the arbor look good. I’ve ordered a replacement from Amazon. Repair centres not open and the local stores don’t have the piece. I’ve emailed Dewalt to see if this can be covered.
