I recently bought some 2″x2″ Redheart from Woodpeckers. I was wondering if anybody had a tip on how to get the wax coating off the redheart without loosing any of the wood in the process.

Start by warming it up and scraping. After that, alcohol dissolves wax. A scotchbrite pad will help.
Very often, that stuff is waxed because the wood is green. If you allow it to dry too fast, it will crack. I'd take the wax off the long grain first and leave it on the endgrain. Don't be in a rush to use it.
