My inlay kit from MCLS came with an 1/8″ “Downcut Bit”- Somehow I thought it would be an upcut spiral bit- Some of the discussions I’ve seen even call for just a straight bit- Also, do I need an 1/8″ collet for my router? my 1/4″ seemed to fit okay- Thanks for your thoughts-

Yogi,
The downcut bit will reduce tearout-a upcut would ensure tearout. You would only need a 1/8" collet if the bit shank was turned down to 1/8". Hope this helped.
