Dimensions for Frame & Panel Constructio

Has anyone seen any references that discuss sizing custom frame & panel construction pieces? I’d like to make some frame & panel-sided boxes, but getting the relative diemnsions right seems like trail and error. Considering wood movement and aesthetics (ie, Divine Proportions, etc), what are the rules for designing frame & panel pieces? Thanks for your help.

Hi Dave ,
Imo balance to the eye will yield the best looking results , the rule is there are no rules other than design features that allow the movement of wood .
Any doors on the same piece may provide a starting point for stile and rail sizes of the ends .
