I’ve heard FWW’s Discord site mentioned on FWW podcasts, but don’t know what that is or how to find it online. I’ve seen a site which is called the Discord, but wasn’t sure if the FWW site was something different. How do I access the FWW Discord site? Is it any more useful than any other woodworking forum? If so, why?

This is coming from someone born long before the 1990s so please take that into consideration. Discord is an instant messaging community. You chat with others, nicely, about common interests, in this case woodworking and all things FWW. I'm a lurker but it's a nice bunch of people with no flaming or nasty comments as is so common on forums (fora?). You can access it by downloading the app on your phone or computer, find the FWW site, ask to be let in, then let the chatting begin. Ben, hope I got this right.
Nailed it. Although, most of the time I access it as a website through my browser.
Thanks for the info. I was born in 1951 so, in general, social media of any kind is not common for me even though part of my regular job until retirement was heavy involvement with technology. Forums and YouTube didn't become my go to place for woodworking knowledge until I retired about 10 years ago. Previous to that it was books, WW magazines, woodworking friends, and just experience that supplied my information. I just wanted to be sure that FWW didn't have a separate site that was categorized as "Discord" before I joined the Discord site I found online.
I'm always looking for sites that contribute to my knowledge about woodworking and, sometimes, allow me to provide useful information.
It caught my attention as well. They have been talking about it a lot recently. Makes me think they are either doing something new with it or giving it a soft reboot. Would love to have Ben's input.
Nothing new or rebooted. I just think a nice community is starting to form there and we're excited... especially Amanda.

So far I've had problems registering and signing into the Discord site. Don't know why but, at this point, I think I'll just try to delete whatever is there for my email and forget about it. (Could just be that I'm old and sometimes these things aren't as straightforward as they need to be for me.) Anyway thanks for the info, but likely I just won't proceed with registering since it hasn't worked so far.
