Dished out Shapton Ceramic Stone
My 8000 grit Shapton stone is dished in the middle. I spent about 15 -20 mins with the fine powder trying to flatten it. Doesn’t seem like I’m getting any where. Can I use the medium grit followed with the fine powder. I assume using the medium grit will cause scratches on the stone. Will the fine grit get rid of the scratches?

tcbaldmtn,
I have used the medium grit, to remove any major amounts of dishing, followed by the fine grit powder. I haven't noticed this creating any scratches on the 8000 stone, for me it just seems to speed up the flattening process. As you well know, the Shaptons are really really hard.
Best of luck

I have a couple of Lie Nielsen videos of David Charlesworth. I took his recommendation and use my 1200 grit DMT diamond plate to flatten all of my stones. Works like a charm in a few seconds!
