I needed to finish some door trim …long overdue project……
..bought some pine casing and rosettes, sand everything , seal the grain on the rosettes and spray prime…..using a well known national brand that begins with R….
when dry I paint…using the same Brand,with a 5-6 hour dry time…. I want three coats.!
Saturday evening, I run out of paint….Sunday A.M., I go to town,
to a hardware store…they have the SAME Brand, but I want to finish the work on the weekend, soooooo, I grab Brand K
because it dries in “12minutes “…… A REALLY BAD IDEA
I tried it on the rosettes first……go ahead ……laugh,
…now I have to go back to town

would be nice if I put a picture here huh?
That's what happens when you apply a lacquer based finish over an uncured oil based finish. Howie.........
Howie,
I'm just happy I tried it on the small pieces first
..........too bad I didn't bother to read the labels...and now after looking at them,
I can almost read them
Don't feel bad, Maddog. If it wasn't for all the mistakes I made last week, I wouldn't have accomplished anything. It's funny how a simple project can go in the dumpster so fast. At least you now know how to get the wrinkled paint look. Now you will get some practice with paint stripper.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
this never seems to happen when you have plenty of time, material, and ambition.........hahahaha
I'd say you got a decorater's "faux distressed crackle" look on the cheap!
It's all how you look at it!
