DIY Manometer for Dust Collector
I was interested in somehow connecting a DIY manometer to my Grizzly G0860 to monitor the filter cartridge efficiency. Has anyone tried this? If so, where did you drill the hole to place the manometer tube?
Thanks,
Dave

I have seen this done on YouTube - the meter was placed near the sucker.
Commercial shops do have monitoring so they can ensure they are reaching acceptable standards and to indicate when a filter change is needed, but it is hard to see the value in a home shop. Whether or not it is collecting the chips is a more useful measure.
Large Commercial dust collectors measure the pressure difference between the clean and dusty side of the unit to trigger a air pulse that releases the dust cake to fall in the auger screw and be carried away. In the case of a canister sitting above a bag, the clean side pressure would be the ambiant room pressure, the dirty side pressure rise could be measured just below the canister and a set point to clean the canister determined by trial and error.
I spin the handle on my DC now and then, and empty the bag when it needs it. As long as it's sucking well, I don't worry about it.
