I am curious how a DC Silencer is made. It looks like a auto glass-pack muffler, which is a perforated straight pipe (same diameter as the exhaust pipe), a larger diameter sealed outer shell, and some sort of padding (fiberglass?) that would muffle the noise (slightly).
Is a DC silencer essentially the same without the muffling material between the two layers of pipe?

It's similar in design to what you could find in a ventilation system and essentially, as you said, a auto glass-pack muffler. :)
