Hey Folks,
I’m hoping some of you who have more machinery experience can steer me in the right direction. A DJ20 8″ jointer has popped up in my area for $450. I went for a look, and it seems the infeed table will lift almost a 1/4″ with some hand pressure. I popped the first set of set screws out and checked if the second set was snug against the eccentric bushings and all four were tight. When I lift up on the infeed table, I can feel both sets of eccentric bushings move. What gives? I can order new bushings for $5 each. Should I walk away or take on this project?
Thanks!

How bad do you want a 8 inch jointer. $450 may be to much. Infeed table has a lock down handle like out feed side. Is this not working? If it is table needs to come off. I would want to know how this happened? Jointer may have more problems than you can see. Check flatness of both tables.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Well, I've been using a 6" jointer for three years and most of the lumber available to me is sold in 8" widths.
Even with the lock down handle engaged, the table will pivot on the rod running through the eccentric bushings. Next trip down I'll bring my machinists straight edge to check the tables for flatness, but at a glance the jointer doesn't seem to have suffered trauma. The seller wasn't sure how it happened- said 'it's always worked good enough'. Hmmm..
