Does anyone know what this is used for?
Looking for some help identifying this item
got it in a yard sale no idea what it’s used for though 🙂
as you can see it has a dead centre at one end and a blade at the other and slots for moving the blade end.

Whoever made it is probably the only one who knows for sure.
My guess is a jig for holding a turning, possibly for layout and marking?
With those pivot points it strikes me as part of a bending brake. Total guess of course.
Someones jig for a job. I could see a stop block for a RAS from this. But it could be anything.
It's an adjustable holder for a catalog or phone book in your out house. It has to be adjustable because not all catalogs or phone books are the same size ;>)
Interesting. Not a clue.
I have a jig in a shop drawer that obviously took lots of time to “invent.” Now I can’t remember what it’s for. Maybe I should label the drawer: “Forget-me-knots.”
I have jigs that I made that I don't even know what they are for! Or I make a jig to do a task and when I go to put it away I find 3 more jigs that would have done the same thing. That jig looks like it was set up to index something- dados, dentils, who knows, and for what tooling? What that blade is about is curious. Might not even have anything to do with woodworking. Some farmer or fisherman or weaver might weigh in ...." oh, that's a framistan for.... .
Pandemic era adjustable dispenser. Could readily index between paper towels or TP depending on what was available. T'was rough back then..
Artisinal toilet paper. The rolls don't come in a standard width.
The folks at Lee Valley have a large following that helps to ID stuff. Maybe they can help. Haven’t seen much from them lately but they used to publish strange objects on their site and would usually get answers.
