I am slowly becoming enamored with the Domino and before I make the plunge I wondered if any studies have been done to compare a domino joint to a standard mortise and tendon for something large such as a dining room table. M & T joints are no longer fun or a challenge and this new technology is intriguing. What do the experts say?
Many thanks, Gordon S. Davis DVM

Dear Breadboard,
Our resident expert (also known as our editor, Asa Christiana) gave the Domino a pretty good workout. Here's the article and video we produced. I hope it answers your questions. In general, I think, the Domino's loose tenons will work just fine in any piece you'd design with loose tenons that you cut by hand.
Thanks for your interest.
Best,
