Someone gave me quite a few oak stair treads. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I might do with them. I have 10 of them. Thanks.

Buy some longer Oak boards and make shelves. Use the treads for the shelves.

Firewood..... LOL
Who ever invented work didn't know how to fish....
dove tail,
I'm in the process of finishing an oak arts&crafts style end table that uses all recycled wood. I would imagine your boards are 9-10" wide and at least 28" long?...nice straight grain? You may need a piece of 10/4 for the legs, but basically your good to go..have fun
How about using them for stair treads? Smile.
You could make boxes, humidors, small shelves, book-ends, etc.
If you have kids/grandkids, you could make toys.
If you do clocks, that would be good.
Picture frames? Desk Accessories? A small toolbox?
Step-stools?
If these don't get you started, send them to me. I'll make something nice and send you pictures...LOL!
There is a book "out there" that includes nothing but small projects that can be made with scraps, cutoffs, etc. Check Amazon...
As a forum "jump off" point, what's your favorite "small project(s)"????
Mine was a Mission-style Jewelry box!
Hi Larry ,
I am in the process of making a rack to store my lumber on. I have never made anything but a work bench so far. I am going to b taking a class over two weekends soon at the local college and there we are going to be making an end table. I made a misake in saying the stair treads were oak. They are yellow pine. I think I will try to use some of them there for that project. I am sure I will learn a lot about woodworking in this class. Thanks to everyone for all the good feedback.
Yellow pine is a reasonable secondary wood . I think you could resaw it into 3/8 boards and shiplap it for backs or drawer bottoms. Lots of uses for small pieces of pine- glue blocks, drawers side etc. . .
I think it is inadvisable to horde huge piles of scraps, but this sounds like useful stuff.

Oh, just be like the rest of us and just save them, take up room in the shop, collect dust, stub your toe on them.
But when somebody says, "why don't you get rid of those"? No, No, I need them!
Enjoy, Roy
