I have recently bought a Bostich Staple gun and find that it is double-firing every eight or so staples, quite unpredictably anyhow. I have a nail gun that occasionally does the same, but not as often. Both get oiled as they should.
Anyone have a solution? Air pressure, perhaps?
thanks

I have a Porter Cable FR 350 framing nailer that double fired. It posed a hazard - if the second nail tries to go into the head of the first, it shoots off somewhere, perhaps somewhere unpleasant.
At the suggestion of the folks at breaktime, I bought a restrictive trigger kit and the double firing is gone. You might contact the manufacturer to see if they make a restrictive trigger. I have a bostich coil roofing nailer that came with both a bump and a restrictive trigger. I put on the restrictive trigger and have not had any double firing.
One poster on breaktime suggested holding the nailer lightly against the surface so the nail impact pushed the nailer away from the board. He suggested pushing it lightly enough so it didn't get pushed right back against the board and double fire. Me, I think that the restrictive triggers are much safer and I'm not good enough at roofing and carpentry to need the extra speed of a bump trigger anyway.
I will look for a restrictive trigger kit, have never heard of one. Holding the thing lightly is not a viable option as it takes too much care and time for some operations, and it still double fires on occasion.
Thanks for the info.
