I recently purchased the Akeda dovetail jig and have been trying to make half blind dovetails for some drawers I am constructing. I am able to get good fitting joints but the mated boards are all of a slightly different height when they are assembled. This makes the whole assembly appear twisted and I would like to figure out what I am doing wrong. I am using 1/2″ stock which has been planed and jointed. Has anyone else had this happen? I hope I have painted a clear picture of the problem and look foreword to any suggestions as to how to fix this.

I don't have the jig. But more than likely it's because your stock isn't milled exactly square, or your jig may be not set up square where the stock registers against a guide or something before clamping. I'd double check everything.

Kyoshidog,
I agree with Spokeshave, something is not aligned correctly. Unfortunately, if you have not cut half blind dovetails by hand it can be kinda confusing to understanding what the jig is doing ....how it's replicating the hand cut process...
If you take the two boards (one with pins, one with tails) and put one on top of the other you should be able to determine if the wood was not square when you began..or, it the tails and pins don't line up..and therefore the offset may be incorrect....or your stock was not perfectly aligned when you set it up...
good luck
One thing to look at or think about is make sure you are using the same side of the board to indix off of, not sure of the jig you are using but if you are maybe swapping sides when doing other end ofr flipping one during assembly can cause problems, use some challk to mark your refrence edge on each board and make sure you use the same edge during the cutting.
