I am a jigaholic, My shop is loaded with different types of jigs that I built myself and guide me in many phases of my woodworking hobby. They make me look and feel like a pro when difficult jobs turn out so well.
It all started when I tried to make tapered legs for a table. There were never two legs that ever matched until I stumbled on a do-it yourself taper jig. I built it and I was hooked for ever. Not only was I pleased with the results, but later having seen what the various catalogs charge for production models I was even more pleased with what I had done and how much money I saved by doing it myself.
I would like to have suggestions from you guys who have built their own jigs, how well do they work. Would you recommend them and where can I find them.
I am currently looking at a number of do-it yourself dovetail jigs that will save me big bucks over buying a production model. One that has particularly caught my eye is featured on www.thedovetailjig.com . It works on a router table and looks good. Anyone have any experience with it or opinions?

My favorite DT jig is a good saw, a set of sharp chisles and a round, (carvers), mallet. Easy to adjust, fast to set up and very quiet.
I made my own dovetail jig that is similar to a Porter cable priced about $100. I'm very pleased with it and very proud to tell my buddies i made my own. The plans came from a jigs magazine that i bought i will look it up and get back to you later. However i spent an entire weekend and about $30.
I look forward to hearing more on your homr made jig.

Realize I'm not specifically answering your question, but the Keller DT jig is a joy to use. I despise the half blind models because of the setup time required. The Keller requires almost zero setup time. I believe most self made jigs for dovetailing follow a similar principle as the Keller...good luck.
