I’m trying to cut 1/2″ half-blind dovetail joints in 1/2″ wood for drawers using a 1/2″ x 8 degree bit. However, the fit is too loose, i.e, the pins are too narrow in the slots, unless I increase the depth of cut to 1/2″, which all the way trrough the front of the drawer. I’m using a simple Porter-Cable jig with a 1/2″ template guide. It works great with 3/4″ wood. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a different bit? I’ve asked experts at Woodcrafter and they don’t seem to know.
Thanks for your help.

John,
You need to use a 14 degree bit. It will allow you to make a shallower cut.

Great. I thought it was something simple. Thanks.
