I am very interested in purchasing the OMEC 650 pneumatically assisted dovetailing machine. I currently am using a PorterCable OmniJig and am fatigued by guiding the router though so many individual cuts when doing office file drawers. The OMEC will allow me to select a wider pin and tail, as will the Powermatic which was in consideration, but The OMEC will also do “through DT’s and box joints which the PM will not.
Any one with personal experience with this or other dovetailers? Advice and comments greatly appreciated. I have searched the auctions and used machine sites but do not want one of those big industrial machines. I do not do so many that I need muliple spindle cutters.

Post at http://www.woodweb.com for this type of dovetailer. Dodds is one of the big name in dovetail machines. Probably comparable to the PM. The other Dodds are much bigger and this was their dovetailer for the small shop upgrading from Omni and such. I've used it a bit in a previous shop but don't know if it is as verstiale as the OMEC.

thank you for the input. I am told that the people who make the dovetailers for Dodds also make the OMEC 650, which has been modified for the smaller demand workshop.
