Hi all. I’m thinking about ordering a dovetail plane from Steve Knight. This is the male one that cuts the “tongue” part of a sliding dovetail only, like an angled rabbet plane. Has anyone used one? How do you like it? Also, what do you think is a good angle to order the plane in? I want to keep the option of cutting the devetail groove with a router bit, and have seen bits in catalogs in 7, 9, and 14 degrees. Well, maybe this is a good time to get the new Veritas router plane as well 🙂
Thanks in advance.

I was thinking of the same thing but I was looking at the ECE Dovetail Plane on http://www.traditionalwoodworker.com. I'm on board with the Lee Valley Router Plane plan - any excuse (good enough to get my wife to buy it for me for Christmas).
I have the option to cut sliding dovetails on my Leigh D4 but I'm keen on doing them by hand. You can check their site for the bits you'll need. Their customer service is excellent! I think it's because their Canadian.
