Has anyone put together the Gramercy DT saw kit? I don’t really need another saw but the kit looks like an interesting project. Any feedback would be a big help.

I made one. Great kit. Great saw. Excellent instructions.
Thanks. I believe I'll get one, any tips?
The hardest part was getting the blade into the back. I got a very early kit, and I think the brass was slightly harder or folded differently than the latest ones. In the new kits, I bet this operation goes perfectly.
The directions really are top notch and take you through it in an almost fullproof way.
If I were to make another, I might tweak the handle here and there to suit my own particular hand, but that's something that would be hard to do the first time around. You need to hold your first attempt to figure out what you might change on the second. That said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the handle pattern they provide. I use the saw all the time. I have many dovetail saws, and this one may be my favorite.

Howdy,
I'm in the process of building one of these kits and am wondering whether plain-sawn or quarter-sawn handle would be stronger-I notice you used plain-sawn and that was my intuition.
I also got some of the round-back dovetail chisels from TFW and they are awesome!
Cheers,
C
I wanted to use a special piece of wood I had from a large flowering cherry (not typical black cherry) I had to take down in my yard. So, I wasn't too fussy about the exact grain pattern. I think as long as you align the grain in the direction specified in the instructions, you'll have a strong handle.
I had a 'not typical black cherry' in my yard that I think those tree rats killed. Made many things from the wood. Not sure if all survived to this day. All the 'getters' for free stuff loved them...
