Hi,
I would like to build a high-quality drating table with a drafting machine for furniture and trin work. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Dave,
I don't have it any more, but for a long time I used a drafting table which consisted of the drafting machine mounted on an interior door as the "table." Interior doors are torsion boxes with thin skins of veneer. It was light and stayed perfectly flat, and was dimensionally stable, which is the most important thing. They are also inexpensive.

Thanks Rich. Interesting. Never thought of that. How about the drafting machines themselves. Since I have yet to buy one I could use some pointers.
Thanks,
Dave
Dave,I have a Vemco 3500-16 Here's a link:http://www.nationwidedrafting.com/store/draftingmachines.html Take a look on EBay. It looks like you can get them for about $150 in mint condition.Rich
Thanks Rich, I'll check it out. I appreciate your time and thoughts.

Out here (Long Island, NY) you can always find drafting tables sitting at the curb the day after a garage sale. They are sort of an item from the past, most people having switched over to some form of CAD program on their computer. Unless you're looking for a REALLY big table, use the suggestion of an inexpensive flat door as another poster suggested. They are light, FLAT and inexpensive.
