HI All,
I’m installing door and drawer pulls. Does any one have experience with the installation jigs that are currently on the market.I’m trying to find the one that is fastest and easiest to help speed up this process.
Thanks,
Danny

why not just make your own....
take 3 x 6 x 1/2 ply or scrap, mark and drill your pilot hole at your height/width from edge, tack on a 1 x border on top and one edge, and you're done...

I have made my own jig in the past , but it just seems like it would be easier to have an adjustable one that I could use and not have to make one for each job I do, and have less jigs hanging on the wall or to haul to a job. I was just curious to see what others may be using who are installing a lot of doors.
I second that...make your own! You are making your own cabinets and furniture so why not make your own jigs? You should be able to whip something up faster than you can look up a jig in a catalog.
Sometimes, I make my own jigs; and sometimes, I just measure, mark and drill.
I also have a few of those inexpensive plastic jigs (I forget the brand name) that I got at Home Depot. They're great for doors. You can use their holes - or drill your own. I don't like them that much for drawers. Since the width and height of the drawer fronts may vary quite a bit, I find it easier to measure and mark them one at a time.
I use this Rockler jig for drawer pulls http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=16411 and like it. I've been working on new condo/apartment complexes lately and found it handy to have one jig/template for drawer pulls instead of the multiple ones I had made before. Comes with a center punch for marking holes that works well. It does have it's limitations. One builder requires drawer pulls be centered both horizontally and vertically- on deeper drawers the jig isn't deep enough to do that and there's one style of drawer pull that's too large for the existing jig holes though you can easily drill new ones. I'd tape up the holes you don't use- towards the end of a long day it's easy to make a mistake (damhik). You can certainly make your own jig/template but this one seems pretty well thought out and well worth the $28 or so I spent on it. For knobs I use my own jig- just an old speed square with notches filed on it for the knob locations.

Thanks Jc,
This one looks pretty decent and I know I could make one just like this, but for $28.00 it's not worth my effort. I'll give it a try!
