Old age is not kind to hand strength, so I was having problems tightening drill bits in my 14″ drill press. I ordered an Albrecht hand tightening chuck with integral arbor shaft, diamond grit on the jaws, and a self tightening feature that converts higher drilling torque into a tighter grip on the drill bit shank. A side benefit is that the one-piece chuck and arbor is shorter than the replaced separate arbor and chuck, thus giving me more room between the chuck and the work piece. The results have been flawless. Even my under-strength hand can easily tighten the chuck to achieve a fully reliable grip on the drill bit shank. This matters even more when I am using cobalt drills which sometimes resist adequate gripping. There may be other brands with all the added features noted, but I did not find one.
