Drilling pen blank with a 27/64 new Fisch bit. Drill table is level. Clamp holding pen blank is level. Drill in chuck appears vertical as best as I can tell. Hole starts in center
and when blank is drilled through exit hole is not vertical with entry hole.
Bit seems to veering to the right. Does drill speed matter? Getting a lot of heat. Drilling
at 2500 rpm’s. Using paduka, rosewood, cherry . Have made slim line and cigar pens with smaller bits and did not have this problem.
Appreciate and insight.

Yes, I would try a slower speed on the drill press and raise up to clear chips often.
Try to stand the blank on end on the drill press table, make sure it's 90 degrees to the table with a square. Line up the drill bit to the center of the blank on top, then draw around the blank on the table. Now you can remove the blank and bring the quill down to make sure it's lining up at the bottom.
If you have pin jaws for your lathe chuck it may be easier to drill on the lathe.
thanks, for the suggestion
I never had one go straight on the drill press, so used thicker blanks. But check to see that the blanks are square as they wont sit right in whatever you're holding them with. Now I do them on the lathe, but the bit can wander there as well.
