I am making a copy of a drop leaf table that I own. It is an oak, oval table with 10″ leafs. The supports are cast metal in the shape of a right triangle. The short side is mounted on the 4″ apron and simply swings out to support the leaf in the upright position. When the leaf is down it simply rests against the apron behind the down leaf. I think it must be slightly more than 90 degrees as it really snugs the leaf up when it pivots out to support the leaf. Such a simple design but works oh so well. Do you know where I could get a couple of these supports? I don’t care if they are antique or reproduction. Thanks alot, William Miller

Hi, don’t know about where to find the old metal parts,my parents had a drop leaf table, the leafs were supported by sliding wood pegs that extended out of the tables edge.I am guessing in a wedge shape as they slid in and out of the table easily, yet had good pressure to hold the leafs in place hope this helps. garyowen

Well, I've searched all the places I knew about when I was in the antiques business (1990's) and quite a few new ones, haven't seen anything that matches the description. Can you post a picture? If you want to go with metal, you may have to have them made.
