Hello All,
I’m in the market for an open ended drum sander and was wondering if anyone knows of any prelim tests of the new Grizzly GO458 18″ ? Looks like a good deal for the $ in relation to Performax and others.

Thanks in advance,

Thats the new Grizzly and its not in stock yet---mid Feb. to mid March, I ordered one and they told me the would call when it came in. Vernon
Thanks Vernon,
Have you read anything about it anywhere? It looks like a good unit but I'm always a little hesitant to be the first! LOL:))))
I was hoping to order this next week, depending on feed back. I guess I'll call Grizzly and get some more info the expected ship dates and also if they have had any reviews of this anywhere before release?

Since it is new and not on the market yet there will not be any reviews, Yet I did order one---I like someone else to be the first to----but being on a fixed income and having a shop full of Grizzly tools that I've not had any problems with, if this is as good as the rest I'm sure it will be great for me. I work as a hobbist, not a pro. Vernon
Just wondering if you have received your sander yet, and if so, how is it working out?
It looks good, but who knows how it'll work. I don't think much of they're claim of better stabiltiy just because the head is fixed and feed belt moves. I'm a little skeptical of the DC system's efficiency. I'd wwait and see. FYI Amazon has Performax 16/32's for $869 and 22/44's for $1099.John O'Connell - JKO Handcrafted Woodworking
The more things change ...
We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.

Thanks John,
I'm skeptical also of the DC but like Vernon, I've been very pleased with the Grizzly tools that I do own. I have also been looking at the Performax models you mentioned. I think I'll wait a while longer since this is not a must have tool for me.
Thanks for the input!
