very nice. you are fortunate to have the ability to run the hose underneath the floor.
Did you use flex duct for the full length of each run?
No in the crawl space i used pvc, and the blast gate system from Shopsmith works great. I also am very pleased with pennstate over arm guard and dust collector, makes things a litter safer for fingers and lungs.
Nice job, your system looks great.
The reason I asked is that I have been told that most flex pipe has a big flow rate loss. People I know in the HVAC industry put the vinyl type of flex duct with a loss of between 21% and 30% (compressed vs. fully stretched)- more at the elbows. Putting smooth pipe runs below decks was a good idea. Better vacuum and easier on your DC motor(s).
I think your system is going to work great.John
So far so good, thanks John.
Hey woodhead, whats up with that blast gate box, with several hoses running into it, that you have in your pictures. I am in the process of running an under-floor system and I'm wondering what the significance of it is. I have never seen anything like it before. Thanks.
I guess there is always a first, the design is a blast gate system from Woodsmith magazine. One is for the jointer the other two go to the table saw,i use flex hose on top and pvc below deck it works great. My dust collector is a Grizzly 2HP canister and i have a Peenstate over arm guard and dust collector. Know you know my secret.
Thank you for getting back to me. I'm trying to work out in my head why that box isn't filling up with chips. Can you send me a link to the design if they have it online? Thanks again.
I will try to find it when i go to the shop.
