A cyclone or a direct hook-up is about as much as you can do. I think the nomenclature of the drum sander is your worst enemy. Too much space where saw-dust is generated for any standard DC system to cover. Just my opinion...
Dust mask for sure and do what I do if possible. When operating it, move it close to an outside door. Open the door and run a large circular fan from behind you pointed outside. Works for me. Keep in mind I'm in Atlanta and we don't get extreme temps or weather in general.
Maybe some of the production guys can give you a better forecast..

So what size is your duct work? If it isn't 6" it won't do what you want it to. You need an honest 800cfm for fine dust all the way from the machine to the DC.
Go to the below URL & do some reading it may help.

well Bart the reading helped me to under stand how it all works but I don't think I'm ready to go to a cyclone just yet the cost is to high at this point makeing my own looks like a good idea. or may be converting my delta to one If I can get that kine of power out of it.??? thinking. I may have to many mac. to run just one 2hp delta. If i take en add a drop bucket to it it may do you thinkor useing the impler an motor mounted to a cyclone hoper may that give the power i want. Maybe I just need mor feed back guys We have just moved from 1200sf to a building with about 3500sf there is a lot of room. Most of the mec. are spred out in some what of fnckioning curver.in one door out the samefrom one end to the other. lets see what eles comes up in the next fue days. thank you for the link.
