I’m thinking of buying the JDS 2000 750 cfm filtering unit. Does anyone have one or what do you think of the product?

They appear to use non-standard filter sizes, which greatly increases your long term replacement costs - by a factor of 2 or 3. Other than that, buying a JDS is much more convenient than building your own. I hear that people are generally quite happy with them. The variable speed is essential. Many find these units louder than they expected, and it's good to be able to quiet them when the dust isn't real heavy.
Best, Dave
*Thanks dave, I had not considered filter sizes. I got to see AND hear a Jet 650 today. No variable speed but very quiet. I just wonder if it moves enough air. I create a lot of dust. I'll have to do some more research. Both units hang from the ceiling and that's where I want it.
*George, I'm not sure about the model # but my Jet air cleaner has 3 speeds, 3 run timer settings and a remote.
*George recent WOOD magazine has review of air filters. I don't think thye lok at the ones in you rize though.
George...
I'm in the process of outfitting my shop...I have a cyclone in place (but havn't hooked up the duct work yet). This past weekend, I set up my JDS 750 filter and it works GREAT! I can already see a big difference (even without the dust collector set up). Right now on Amazon, you can get one with a electrostatic filter ($48.00) for free--no shipping charges/no tax for $259.
The draw-backs are that there is no timer on the unit--I will purchase an after market timer for this unit at a later date...others have mentioned that the filter is not of a common size and therefore more expensive--you might want to look into that as well. Other than the above, I'm very happy with the performance....
