Folks,
I am about to build a new workshop (woohoo). I want to put my 6″ DC piping in the new poured foundation. What are some things that I need to be concerned about? Will I need clean outs or will the stubs I run to the machines suffice?
If anyone has done this and can offer some tips, I would really appreciate it.

What kind of pipe are you using? With PVC, be sure to ground it. I'm not sure about burying metal pipe in the dirt.......
Nonetheless, you do want the horizontal runs in the dirt below the slab, not up in the concrete. Wrap your vertical stub ups with an inch of insulation where they will be in touch with the concrete so movement in the concrete does not break the pipe. You can caulk this later.
You shouldn't need cleanouts as long as you're cleaver about leaving a way to snake the pipe from the machine connections.
I poured a slab at the bottom of my foundation and the floor joists sit about 4' up so I ran my DC pipe under the floor. Its a great way to keep the shop free of the DC clutter.
Good luck,

Norse,Yes, it will be PVC. Thank you for the response.
You'll definitely want some clean outs - just like a sewer line. - lol
You may also need to check on allowable penetrations in footings and foundation walls.
WW,
First off, what size DC are you using?
If for any reason you need to get to the pipe, that could be a major problem with it buried in the slab. Also, if you later decide to rearrange your shop it could come back to haunt you. Not sure how big your shop will be. Are you a hobbyist or full time woodworker?
The recommendation I've run into most often, when someone wants to bury their DC ductwork, is to make channels and place the pipe into the channels and cover the top.
I'm trying to envision cleanouts with any kind of buried system and am not getting a clear picture of them.

A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!
